So whats a Ring Sling? How does it work? Why should I use one?...Are you asking yourself these questions...well no need to fret this post will tell you everything I know about the Slings I create and the benefits and reasons why Babywearing is the greatest discovery I ever made.
What is a Ring Sling?A Ring Sling is a very basic design made from a panel of fabric that is threaded through a special set of rings. Once threaded the fabric panel creates a little pouch that snugly envelopes your lovebug securely against you.
Yes! My Ring Sling is the most comfortable carrier/sling that Ive used. Ive tried all sorts of other carriers from department stores and everyone either made myself or my son miserable.
When using a Ring Sling the weight of your child is more evenly distributed than in traditional front carries. There are no straps to dig into your shoulders and no pesky buckles to fiddle with.
In fact, my son is so comfortable in it he will even nap slung up against me.
I myself have a bad lower back and slinging my son doesn't cause me aches or pains, I carry him in it through all my shopping and daily outings.
Are they complicated to wear?No..sure it takes some practice getting your lil one in and out of it but once you get the hang of it, its simple and a lot less of a hassle then dragging out the stroller.
Are they expensive? No. My slings sell for $35. They are 22" wide and approx 88" long and are 100% adjustable making them easy for just about anyone to wear. They include detachable rings to make washing easier and quieter (since the metal rings wont clank and bang in the dryer.) Not only are they super cute but they are highly versatile and usable until your child is nearly a toddler making it well worth your money.
Are they safe?Yes. Using a Ring Sling is as safe as carrying your baby in your arms. My rings come from a manufacture that specially designs rings for use in baby carriers. Each ring is ran through a series of rigorous tests including weight testing each ring to hold up to 250lbs. You can carry a grown man with these rings..though I do not recommend it for more than one reason. :)
I do not use craft rings or any other rings on the market.
However, common sense must be used when using a Ring Sling. Only use it with a cooperative child. Dress your child accordingly and watch their temperature as overheating can occur. Ensure your childs airways and breathing is unobstructed and clear. Avoid open flames and hot liquids. Be aware of your surroundings. Never use in place of a car seat. Do not use in the shower or while swimming etc....Also, check your sling before every use for any tears or wear in the fabric or stitching...one small defect can be detrimental to the safety of your child.
**Mommie*Unique is not and will not be responsible for any harm caused to your child when using the Ring Sling**
Please when using a Ring Slings check your child frequently to ensure they are comfortable and secure.
So, why should you use a Ring Sling? For one, babywearing is extremely beneficial to your child.
Research shows that a baby that is carried cries less. I can attest to this...my son was a constant crier actually more like a screamer...since we've started using the sling he is much more content in everyday life.
Carrying your child is also great for your babies mental, emotional and physical development. Your child will see the world from where you do which offers great stimulation for brain development. Carrying your child also offers a sense of security and trust, often causing children to be much more secure with themselves and others at an earlier age as well as more independent. It also significantly helps premature babies as well as newborns better adapt to life outside the womb.
For two, its only natural to carry your baby hence, the reason they cant walk straight out of the womb. But just carrying my son in my arms can be so inconvenient; I can't do everything one handed. Slinging my son keeps him happy, close, safe, and my hands FREE to do all the things that need to be done...housework, shopping...even blogging. It also helps in tending to other children you may have.
Yet another reason...Ring Slings are very versatile. There are many different carrying positions you can use. Its great for discreet breastfeeding in public. The "tail"(remaining hanging fabric) can be used as a cover up as your lil one nurses. You can use the sling with the smallest of babies as well as older children, generally those up to 30lbs. Just about anyone can use one...no special fitting needed just simple pulling of the rails and that's it.
With all that said...my son loves it and he is a rather finicky little man. I love it, its so comfortable and convenient. I honestly don't know how I managed without it before or how I would manage now if i didn't have it...my Ring Sling is absolutely fantastic!!!
